27-year-old Jami Lynn Toler has been sentenced to one year in jail for theft after she told family and co-workers that she needed money for cancer, and instead got breast implants.
Toler collected more than $8,000 through donations, while medical records show that she in no way had breast cancer, and paid the plastic surgeon in cash.
According to ABC News, the prosecutor said, “She pretended to have breast cancer and she did not. She tookmoney knowingly from these folks who were just trying to help someone they believed had a debilitating disease. That’s terrible.”
Brian Kaiser, the commissioner, ordered that Toler’s jail time start immediately as well as her paying full restitution.
