An Australian grandfather turned the tables on a home invader.
83-year-old Karate black belt Edwin Dowdy severely wounded a robber who tried to break into his home.
Dowdy grabbed a knife and confronted the man who was described as being in his mid 30′s and muscular.
The man attempted to rush past Dowdy but was injured somewhere on his left side by the blade.
Jutta, who also holds a black belt, said she chased the robber around the house while he dropped stolen possessions.
News.com.au reports that the man eventually managed to escape, leaving a trail of blood so significant that police believe he is in urgent need of medical attention.
Local authorities have said that people have a right to protect their homes, but only reasonable force should be used.
