Student Drowns After Laying On Bottom Of Pool For 17 MINUTES While Classmates SWAM ABOVE HIM

Students mourned the loss of their classmate through a candlelit vigil.

Malvrick Donkor, 14, of Manchester, CT, drowned in a pool in Manchester High School during a routine swimming class.

The Hartford Courant reported that surveillance footage showed Donkor climbing down the ladder and swimming into the deep end. When class ended, one student noticed Donkor’s body at the bottom.

Thayer Redman, the swim instructor dove in and retrieved Donkor, but couldn’t resuscitate him. The boys outdoor track coach has since been placed on paid administrative leave and the swim class has been closed indefinitely.

The tragedy has befuddled the Manchester school community, and police have exercised sensitivity when investigating the matter
