Elba Echevarria abandonded grandchildren in infested apartmentA grandmother was arrested after leaving her grandchildren alone in her filthy apartment.

Elba Echevarria, 47, left her two grandchildren unattended, undressed and hungry at her apartment in Orlando on Monday and was arrested shortly after with child neglect charges.
When Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint at her home, they discovered the two children alone in the unit, which was infested with bugs and engrossed with trash and rotten food, reports WDBO.

The son of Echevarria and father of the two children, Carlos Arce, was arrested in September, accused of beating up his pregnant girlfriend.

Despite their prior run-ins with the law on allegations of neglect and abuse, the children have not been removed from the family by the DCF and are in their mothers custody
