Voices he heard on TV told him to beat his mother and throw her off a bridge because she was a clone of his real mother.
Martin Montano, 26, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, beat, choked and stabbed his 61 year old mother, Hope Montano, and her companion, Francisco Dominguez, stuffed them into the trunk of a car and drove to a bridge over the Rio Grande, where he threw his mother off the over pass; when he tried to do the same to Dominguez, a passerby stopped him.
He then drove off and was apprehended by police.
Both the mother and her companion survived and were in stable condition at the University of New Mexico Hospital.
According to The New York Daily News, Montano faces numerous charges, including attempted murder, aggravated battery and aggravated burglary.
