When the police arrived, the mother was cradling her son in her arms and wailing.
2-year old Nathan Hubert died of the heat after he was left in the car outside of the family home in O’Fallon Illinois; the father, Wayne Hubert, forgot to take the boy out of the car upon arriving home, got drunk and passed out on the floor.
When the mother got home, hours later, it was already too late and Nathan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The father has been charged with involuntary manslaughter; he also faces a misdemeanor charge for leaving his four-year-old daughter unattended.
According to The Daily Mail, Nathan is the 13th child to die this summer from being left in a hot car
