George Zimmerman may have won in the courtroom, but has lost in the bedroom.In his wife's first interview since his murder acquittal, Shellie Zimmerman reveals to ABC that divorce is "something I'll have to think about" with the trial still keeping their marriage on the rocks.
"Of course I want to have children and stay married," Shellie, 26, told "Good Morning America" in an interview aired Thursday.
Asked if she plans on it being with George, she says she's not too sure.
"I can't tell you how many nights I've gone to bed or laid awake at night saying, 'I wish to God that these circumstances had been different,'" Shellie Zimmerman said.
On Wednesday Shellie Zimmerman pleaded guilty to perjury charges after lying to a judge about the couple's finances.
But despite her support of her husband throughout his grueling trial, as seen photographed behind him in court, her husband was nowhere to be seen during hers.
Asked if she would have wanted him there, she answered: "I always want my husband's support."
Where George Zimmerman may be now, she didn't say.
"We have pretty much lived as gypsies for the last year and half," she said while identifying a 20-foot trailer as at one time serving as their home in the woods.
While living there she said they were "scared every night that someone was going to find us."
Still she says she never once doubted his story from the February 2012 shooting that ended in the tragic death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin — a night she says she wasn't home to witness for herself.
"That's not his way," she said of her husband's murder charge.
Yet asked if it was the right thing for him to do when he pulled the trigger into Martin's chest, she answered: "No."
Speaking out to Trayvon's parents, she shared a message of sympathy for them.
"I'm so deeply sorry for their loss," she said. "I can't even begin to understand a parent's experiences when they lose a child."
Taking responsibility for her own crimes, which sentenced her to 100 hours of community service and one year of probation, she said: "I've made mistakes and I want to own them right now.
"I can rationalize a lot of reasons for why I was misleading but the truth is that I knew that I was lying."
