9-Year-Old Has Genetic Disease That Makes Him Cry When He Hears A Love Song

Louis Mushrow cries love songThis child understands the term tear-jerker.

9-year old Louis Mushrow of Hawarden, North Wales bursts into tears every time he hears a sad love song — or classical music, or the Welsh National Anthem, or any kind of stirring music due to a condition called Smith-Magenis syndrome which affects 1 in 25,000 people.

The condition is not dangerous, but Louis’s mother claims that she has gotten strange looks and odd comments from stranger when Louis has begun crying in public.

Parent Dish quotes her: ”You get dirty looks and people tell you to control your child. But Louis can’t help it. …People don’t understand because he doesn’t look like he has special needs. People look at us and think we’re bad parents.”

She added, ”People sometimes think he’s crying because he’s upset. …We found out it’s because certain music releases all these emotions in his brain.”
