The mother of the children did not think there was anything wrong with the way they were living.

Wayne Sperling, 66, and Lorinda Bailey, 35 were arrested and charged with child abuse after authorities discovered that their home was filled with dead bugs, cat urine and feces and smelled of decomposing dead animal and it was discovered that none of their four sons, ages 2 through 6, were able to speak in a human language.

The mother had taken the youngest child into the hospital for a cut on his forehead and Child Protective Services was notified when the medical staff realized the malnourished child could not speak, was filthy and smelled of cigarette smoke.

A doctor examining the children claimed that there was no developmental difference between any of the three older children they were malnourished and had not been toilet-trained.

According to NewsChannel 5, the father, who claimed to be the principal care-giver, also said he was home schooling the children who were non-verbal and could only communicate using “infant-like noises.”

The couple has been charged with four counts each of felony child abuse.
