The County considers the online juror form to be more efficient.
An online questionnaire form for potential jurors in DeKalb County, Georgia listed “slave” as one of the possible occupations.
A potential juror discovered the oddity when he typed in “S” for his own occupation, salesman, and the word slave showed up on the drop-down menu.
The Raw Story reports that, when asked, the Court Administrator indicated that she had not looked through the entire form, which is 62 pages long, and although its online form is new, it is based on a form from 13 years ago — when, presumably, “slave”was a valid occupation.
The word was deleted within hours of its discovery, and an investigation in underway to determine how it was entered into the menu, but the company that provided the form said that the entries were all made by the County.
