NEWARK — A man was shot before dawn today while he was sitting in a vehicle, police said.The man was sitting in his car in the 600 block of South 16th Street around 4 a.m. when he was approached by a person armed with a handgun, said Detective Carmen Rivera.
The armed person demanded that the driver open the car door, Rivera said.
When the driver refused, the suspect fired a single shot into the vehicle, hitting the victim once, the detective added.
The victim, who sustained a non life-threatening injury, drove himself to a local hospital, Rivera said.
