The games that are considered to be “brain-training” did not seem to have the enhancement capabilities of the “shooter” video games.
Researchers of a review published in the journal American Psychologist contend that video games may help children with learning, problem solving, memory and perception issue as well as health and social issues — even if the games are violent.
According to NatureWorldNews, the study indicates that there is a correlation between a student’s strategic video game play and improved grades and problem solving skills; the frequency with which the student plays these games is also relevant.
Isabela Granic of Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands, the lead writer, says that the negative side effects of violent video games cannot be ignored, but it is her opinion that the discussion about these games should be more “balanced.”
She also explained that is playing these games makes someone happy, that is considered an enhancement as well.
