An elementary school teacher has been arrested in California for allegedly serving marijuana-laced food to her colleagues at a dinner without their knowledge.
Teresa Badger was booked into the Solano County Jail on suspicion of poisoning fellow staff from Matthew Turner Elementary School.
The 47-year-old teacher's arrest capped a month-and-a-half-long investigation that started with a tip from the Benicia Unified School District's superintendent.
Benecia Police Department Lieutenant Frank Hartig said several people attending the November 21 dinner at a private home complained of feeling ill or high from an unknown substance.
He said two people sought treatment at hospital, and a blood test on one of the patients showed up positive for THC, an active ingredient in marijuana.
A child also ate some of the pot-infused food that was brought home from the staff party.
Lt Hartig told KGO-TV that Badger "admitted to some of the party goers that she had brought food that had marijuana in it".
A neighbour told the station that Badger was "a sweet individual and this just doesn't fit. It really doesn't fit".
