JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A patient who allegedly stole an ambulance to drive himself home from the hospital now faces a felony charge, police said.Ezickel Ford is charged with auto theft after, police said, he stole a Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department ambulance that was parked in front of Baptist South Hospital on Old St. Augustine Road.
Police found the ambulance a short time later in the 6400 block of Cordial Drive, where Ford lives, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Ford, 54, was sitting on the front steps of his home when authorities arrived, JSO said. "The rescue door was open and it was running and I just wanted to go home," Ford allegedly told police.
Ford was arrested. He's being held on $25,000 bond.
Ford is due in court July 31, jail records show.
