Central Falls. RI. : Elderly store clerk robbed, assaulted at gunpoint

CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are working to track down a pair of suspects after an elderly store clerk was attacked and robbed at a Central Falls store.

According to city police, the 77-year-old woman was working at One Stop Convenience Store on Broad Street at about 9 p.m. Sunday when she was brutally assaulted.

The first suspect, dressed all in black, jumped over the counter while pointing a gun at the clerk. While that suspect covered her mouth and put her in a headlock, the second suspect, dressed in Navy blue, walked behind the counter and appeared to try and tie her up.

The two then dragged the woman to the back of the store. The woman tried to fight back, but was clearly outnumbered and overpowered.

The suspects made off with an unknown amount of cash and cigarettes.

Police said the woman was injured in the ordeal, but her current condition has not been released.

Police do not have a description of the suspects, other than what was captured on surveillance video.
