“They still don’t care,” Lesley McSpadden can be seen saying in a short video posted online. “They ain’t never gon’ care.

The video was taken by St. Louis Alderman Antonio French shortly after it was revealed that a grand jury opted not to pursue charges against Ferguson, Missouri officer Darren Wilson, who shot Brown fatally on Aug. 9. McSpadden can be seen speaking to a group of reporters while being supported by an unidentified woman.


Earlier in the evening, McSpadden and her husband, Michael Brown Sr., had requested that protesters observe 4.5 minutes of silence, in recognition of the 4.5 hours police left their son’s body out in public after his death.

The couple also released a statement, which was posted online:
