Bruised man busted with AK-47 and baggies of pot labeled with prices

imageThomas Griest was beaten so badly this week bruises and scabs covered his face and forehead.

That's why the Winter Springs man told police he was carrying a loaded AK-47 for protection Thursday evening after he was finally stopped for reckless driving, records state.

"I'm the driver you're looking for," Griest, 28, said after nearly causing several crashes in Orlando and abandoning his car before getting caught. "I'm scared because I got a gun in the car."

Literal text book definition right here: Kief (pronounced [keːf, ki(ː)f]; from Arabic تكيف (kayf), meaning "pleasure, intoxication"), sometimes transliterated as keef or kif, refers to the resin glands (or trichomes) of cannabis that may accumulate in containers or be sifted from...

But he neglected to mention a few other items in his Ford Crown Victoria: 10 baggies of marijuana, some cocaine and two loaded magazines in the trunk, records show.

Each bag of pot was labeled with the price and strain of marijuana it contained.

Orlando Police Officer Douglas Bates tried stopping Griest at 6:39 p.m. on Vineland Road after seeing him force other drivers to brake as he swerved through traffic.

But Griest made an abrupt U-turn and fled before his arrest near the Kirkman Road intersection, records show.

"Griest had visible injuries to his face but stated they were not the result of this incident," records state. "He said he was 'jumped' several days earlier and that was when he received the injuries."

Police seized the nearly 2 ounces of marijuana along with the 2.2 grams of cocaine and a grinder used to turn marijuana into smokable powder.

It was Griest's fourth arrest in recent years after getting caught with more than 20 grams of pot, a felony charge, records show. Griest remains held without bail in the Orange County Jail charged with armed possession of marijuana with intent to sell, fleeing and eluding police, possession of a weapon during commission of a felony and possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.
