Gene Simmons' home has been searched by police as part of an investigation into child porn.
Detectives from a task force investigating internet crimes against children visited the KISS frontman's Los Angeles mansion on Thursday and executed a search warrant - but neither the singer or his family are suspects.
According to TMZ, someone supposedly downloaded illicit images of children on one of their home computers.
Simmons was away on tour with the band at the time the alleged crimes were believed to have been committed.
The 65-year-old has been told not to discuss the investigation.
An LAPD spokesman said: 'No one in the Simmons family is a suspect in this investigation.'
They would not elaborate as the investigation is ongoing. Lt. John Jenal added the family were being 'extremely cooperative'.
A representative for Simmons said: 'Neither Mr. Simmons nor any member of his family is a Person Of Interest in the investigation and they are cooperating fully with the investigation.
'At this time, the police have requested that Mr. Simmons and his family not discuss the investigation publicly so as not to compromise it.
It is not clear who, if anyone, is being considered a suspect.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program, the department that searched Simmons' home, are specialists that look into child victimization over the internet.
Simmons has been a central member of KISS since the early 1970s. His family was the subject of a reality TV series that aired for several years.
He has been with his long-term partner Shannon Tweed — a 54-year-old former Playboy playmate and mother of his two children Nick, 22, and 19-year-old Sophie — for almost 30 years.
The pair got round to marrying in October 2011, when Simmons was the grand old age of 62.
