Midufinga Interviews: Young Kannon @YoungKannon131

Midufinga Nation Interview Featuring Young Kannon
Lets Begin.....

M: What inspired you to want to battle?

YK: The love of hip-hop competition.. Everybody think they the best...this is the way to prove it.

M: What battle would be your ultimate test? Why?

YK: I got charlie clips June 12th in chicago..the biggest name opponent I've battle to date..this is a test because most casual fans don't think I can bar with the main event level MCs..but the hardcore battle rap fans know I can kill anybody on any given night no matter if its a big name or up & comer because I'm one of the most consistent to ever do this no matter what people think.

M. Being from Chicago and enduring living with the growing crime rate, do you think battle rap can help a few lives be spared from the streets?

YK: Maybe...but then again most rappers in Chicago battling or doing music are either involved with street ties or gangbanging in some form or fashion. The thing is staying focused on your craft and dont let outside influences pull you away from your goals and thats easier said than done..Actually the crime rate is actually down from the 90s where it was a average of about 900 homicides a year..but there was no social media to cover every action ..nowadays its the misguided youngins doing all the dirt and social media blows it up every incident.

M. Do you feel you are underrated or under appreciated?

YK: Both...I'm not Hollywood is the reason...I'm one of the most down to earth and humble battlers. Some people fuck with it..but others will say "he not top-tier" or he don't have "it" but I've beaten plenty of the top ppl in the game and been on the biggest stage so how?... Cuz I don't sell my soul for fame? Do clown shit to make people pay attention?..get naked mid battle and coon all over the stage? Make fake beefs to get a buzz?...Nah bruh that's not me...somebody gotta keep some purity in this game..cuz some fans are blinded by these cats that are putting up a fake image.

M: Who was your hardest challenge? Also who surprised you when you battled them?

YK:  Beside Swave (challenging him in his backyard and losing) I've been in a lot of wars with a lot of talented Mcs and 95% of the time I came out on top...I think my hardest challenge is yet to come. Some of these up and comers surprised me cuz I thought they would be a walk in the park but actually turned out to be a good battle (fettuccine 20 in trap NY, wrekka on ahat).. I still won tho.

M: Who is your battle rap top 10?

YK: At this moment Myself, hollow da Don, tay rock, big Kannon, O-Red, aye verb, loaded lux, head ice, Ave & T-top

M: What are your thoughts on the future of battle rap?

YK:  In 2016 Were at a stage where the so called "top tier leaders of the culture" aren't delivering the great and classic battles we were used to seeing during the 2010-2013 period of time and people are tired of paying $100-$200 per ticket to hear half ass bars, choking, and blogs saying "I didn't care about the battle, I just got the check"..so they either gonna have to step their games back up or pass the torch to the deserving up & comers and mid-tiers who been actually killing shit.
