Brooklyn Scammers get Caught and Turn D'angelo Russell

RIVERDALE — A man who tried to purchase laptop computers using fraudulent credit cards was arrested after he and two others tried to flee the scene in a car, police spokesman Lt. James MacIntosh said in a statement.

Sgt. Chuck Quant was called to Target by a loss-prevention officer around 7:30 p.m. Saturday night after a customer attempted to pay for his items using multiple credit cards, leaving the store and returning at one point to buy even more items, police said.

When Quant approached the man, 27-year-old Quintell Harris of Brooklyn, he appeared nervous before showing Quant a fake Pennsylvania license before running to a waiting car, police said. The car sped away with its lights off and was pursued by Patrolman Kyle Parrill, who caught up to them when the vehicle was stopped in heavy traffic near the Target entrance. Parrill removed the driver from the vehicle

The driver, Avery Goodluck, 25, and another passenger, Terrell Rhames, also both of Brooklyn, were taken into custody along with Harris. Police found several fake credit cards and driver's licenses, a bag of marijuana on Rhames and merchandise from Toys-R-Us and Nest Buy totalling $6,164, police said. An investigation revealed the fake cards had been used in Paramus before the men came to Riverdale, police also said.

Harris and Goodluck were being held at the Morris County Jail on $50,000 bail after being charged with possession of fraudulent credit cards, receiving stolen property, using fraudulent credit cards and eluding - resisting arrest. Rhames was held on $25,000 bail on charges of receiving stolen property and possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana.

The three were released after posting bail and are scheduled for an initial court appearance Wednesday
