Former Tempe teacher arrested for sexual exploitation of 13-year-old student.
TEMPE, Ariz. - A former teacher at Fees College Preparatory Middle School in Tempe was arrested after admitting to sending sexually explicit videos to a 13-year-old student and performing sexual acts while video chatting with the boy.According to police, a father called with concerns about the after-school communication his son was having with his teacher, 26-year-old Kara Loofborough.
The 13-year-old victim told police he had talked with Loofborough through Facebook messages and over video chat. The boy said Loofborough showed him her breasts and her vagina while they talked over video chat in March, according to police.
Police said during the same month Loofborough -- while at school -- showed the student a video of her performing oral sex on another male.
Loofborough also sent the boy a link to a pornographic website, police said.
According to police, when contacted on April 20, Loofborough admitted to showing her genitalia to the boy while video chatting. She told police she was aware that he was only 13 years old.
Police said she admitted to several incidents involving the student, including masturbating over video chat while he watched and having the victim kiss and touch her breasts.
Loofborough was arrested on April 20.
The Tempe Elementary School District sent out a letter to parents on Friday, April 21.In the letter, the district said Loofborough had been a seventh-grade teacher in the district since August of 2016, but has not been on the Fees College Preparatory Middle School campus since March 15.
According to the district, Loofborough submitted her resignation for “personal reasons” on March 30 – effective for May 1.
“At the time she was hired, she had no criminal history reported based on the District’s fingerprint and record check with the Arizona Department of Public Safety and her background check by the District revealed no adverse findings,” the letter reads.
Loofborough could face several charges including one count each of furnishing harmful items to a minor, indecent exposure and luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
