An Uber passenger has died following a physical altercation with his driver over directions, Florida police said.
Terry Lynn Kimball, 56, was rushed to the hospital last week with brain trauma after Kabir O'Farril Diaz punched him.
St. Petersburgh Police said in a statement Saturday that Kimball had died from his injuries, WPTV reports.
Authorities said the fight between the two men is being investigated. Diaz has not been charged with a crime.
According to police, shortly after Diaz picked Kimball up Thursday evening the 38-year-old Uber driver pulled into the parking lot of the Quick Pick convenience store in St. Petersburg.
Authorities said Kimball and Diaz had been arguing over the route Diaz was taking.
Police spokeswoman Yolanda Fernandez told WFLA that the two men got out of the car and started fighting.
"Right after that there was one punch and the victim ended up unconscious," she said.
Carlton Reid, who witnessed the aftermath of the brawl, said when he arrived in the parking lot a woman was trying to revive Kimball.
"He wasn't responsive," he said. "It was pretty tough, really I was really scared. I didn't know what was going on with him and I was pretty worried."
Police told WFTS that a witness said Kimball appeared to be the aggressor. He has been arrested several times for various reasons, including reckless driving, battery, threatening a public servant and disorderly conduct.
A friend of Kimball's told the outlet that Kimball was not a violent person and had a baby on the way.
