A male juvenile has been arrested and charged in the Oct. 4 mass shooting that rocked downtown Montgomery and left multiple people dead and injured during a busy weekend night, police said Friday. Montgomery Police released limited video of the suspect being taken into custody; authorities have not published the juvenile’s name or exact age because of his status. The department said the youth has been booked into the Montgomery County Detention Facility and faces multiple charges; investigators indicated they expect additional arrests as the probe continues.
The shooting happened late Oct. 4 near Bibb and Commerce streets — an area that had been filled with people socializing — and officials say at least two people were killed and a dozen more were wounded. Police described the investigation as ongoing, and released surveillance video and other evidence as they seek to identify co-conspirators and motives. Community leaders and business owners expressed shock that a downtown night out turned deadly, and city officials pledged stepped-up patrols around nightlife corridors while the case proceeds.
